In the beginning, there was a camel...

A Jameliche is someone who wanders down the street eating all the while, much like a camel.

We love this expression, which we picked up while in Cuba and wandering around Havana much like camels! And so when it came time to creating our own dinner club there could only be one name for it; Jameliche.

The initial idea was simple; we wanted to learn more about Perth's restaurants. So we decided to catch up for dinner once a month at one of Perth's restaurants and test it out. Each dinner is organised by a nominated person from the group, and the previous Jameliche organiser announces the next Jameliche Chooserer Person at dessert time.

We've been Jamelicheing our way across Perth since July 2007, and the locations to date are:

1. Cream, East Perth
2. Mother India, Fremantle
3. Tsunami, Mosman Park
4. Balthazar's, Perth
5. Ria, Leederville
6. Loose Box, Mundaring
7. Grand Palace, Perth
8. Nine Fine Foods, Northbridge
9. Ria (once was not enough!), Leederville
10. To be announced

Jameliche has a blog!!

Hello there and welcome to Jameliche.

We're a bunch of fun-lovin' Perth-ite gals who frequently meet over food.

Current obsessions include: cheese, breakfasts at Sayers, pots of tea at Zekka, picnic baskets, tagines, Mystery Chef nights, chocolate, did I mention cheese?

We've got a range of food topics to post about, so please come back soon to check out our Jameliche Night reviews, home cooking blogs (including Mystery Chef posts), art exhibition opening night (and food?) reviews, a healthy~eating section, guest foodie reviews ...

Wherever the posts take you, we promise one thing: to share our love of good food!
